On Friday, December 27, the 2nd regular session of the Berkovići Municipal Assembly took place, during which key documents crucial for the functioning of the municipality were reviewed and adopted:
- The Work Plan of the Municipal Assembly for 2025
- Proposal for the second budget rebalancing for 2024, with a total framework of 3,084,060 BAM
- Proposal for the 2025 budget, with a total framework of 3,431,580 BAM

Key Decisions and Budget Allocations
One significant change is that the Public Health Institution “Dr. Milenko Muratović” Berkovići will operate as an organizational unit within the local treasury starting January 1, 2025.
The 2025 budget includes:
- Investment Fund for Economic Activities in Berkovići: 230,000 BAM
- Investment Fund for Business Initiatives with the Diaspora: 100,000 BAM
- Fund for Entrepreneurship Development
- Financing of projects in agricultural production
- Capital grants:
- Primary School "Njegoš" Berkovići for the renovation of the school playground (Berg surface)
- Dabarska Church Parish for the continuation of the city chapel construction (50,000 BAM) and landscaping the Cathedral grounds (30,000 BAM)
- Funding for priority projects by local communities
- Program: "Mark for Mark"
- Support for education, maternity, and youth:
a) Scholarships for all students attending state universities (150 BAM per month)
b) Scholarships for students continuing high school education in Berkovići (150 BAM per month)
c) Professional training for graduates from state universities (200 BAM per month + exam costs)
d) A one-time allowance of 1,000 BAM for every newborn
e) Free services at the Public Preschool "St. New Martyr Milica the Child" for families with three or more children
f) Co-financing for the "Youth Bank Berkovići" program
- Support for the Public Utility "Vodovod" Berkovići, primary and secondary schools, and NGOs
- Maintenance of local roads
New Initiatives Adopted at the Session
On the proposal of Mayor Bojan Samardžić, and without opposition support, two initiatives were adopted:
- Initiative to Regain Management Rights over abandoned facilities and land from RUGIPP.
- This initiative aims to ensure the safety of students and residents.
- Initiative to the Office of the President of the Republic of Srpska to allocate funds from the "Project for Supporting the Construction, Adaptation, and Equipping of Facilities for Children and Youth" for the "Sports Hall Reconstruction" project in Berkovići.
- This initiative aims to improve conditions for physical education and sports activities for youth.
Reports and Information
The session also included the adoption of the report on the implementation of the Annual Strategy Development Plan for 2023, as well as information on the state of secondary and primary education in Berkovići. Reports on crime rates, public order, safety, and traffic conditions in 2023 were also reviewed.
The session passed a Decision on Utility Fees, in compliance with the Law on Utility Services of the Republic of Srpska.
At the proposal of Mayor Samardžić, Mitar Lučić was elected Deputy Mayor, while Zdravka Ivanišević was appointed as acting head of the Department for General Administration, Spatial Planning, Utility Services, and Veterans and Disability Protection.
