Today, May 13, 2024, a tripartite agreement was signed in the Municipal Administration premises between the Municipality of Berkovići, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari, and Water Management Institute (Zavod za vodoprivredu d.o.o.) Bijeljina for the development of the project - technical documentation for the implementation of the project "Construction of an irrigation system in the Municipality of Berkovići". The total value of the contract is 137,562.00 KM, and it is financed with the funds of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute Bari in the amount of 106,591.10 KM, matched by the Municipality of Berkovići in the amount of 31,100.90 KM.

The development of the project - technical documentation is carried out within the framework of the project "Support to economic development and environmental protection of areas with natural limitations in BiH - ANC BiH" implemented by the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari and financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. ​

The construction of an irrigation system is one of the strategic projects whose implementation is planned in the Development Strategy of the Municipality of Berkovići 2022-2028 and the Rural Development Strategy of the Municipality of Berkovići 2023-2029. The Municipality of Berkovići is involved in the implementation of the project "Resilience and competitiveness of agriculture", which is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the relevant ministry. Through the project, the construction of an irrigation system in the Municipality of Berkovići is planned. One of the obligations of the Municipality of Berkovići is precisely the preparation of project - technical documentation.
